Photographer Theron Humphrey adopted Maddie, a 1yo Coonhound before setting off a year-long trip to document everyday life and people in all 50 states. During the trip, Theron noticed that Maddie had the peculiar ability of unwavering patience and balance and he began to document Maddie as well. He collected his Maddie photographs on a blog he setup entitled, Maddie on Things. Little did he know that this dog would change his life and push him forward in a new direction and purpose. After completing his year long trip across the United States, he’s heading out again, this time with a new project, focusing on rescue dogs for Why We Rescue, and a book tour of the now famous Maddie on Things photographs.

The Tread Wrapping Machine, by London based designer Anton Alvarez, is a beautiful tool that Anton created to join any material with only glue coated thread. This “externalised” joint can be used to combine any type or shape of material without the use of conventional fasteners, creating a final product that can grow organically during the wrapping process.

The identity & collateral by Wink Design Atelier for Sojourn, a lifestyle and furnishing store in Sawyer, Michigan, mixes the store’s aesthetics together with the surrounding style of the small beach community. A simple blind emboss of the logo is letterpressed into book board, a materiel rarely seen uncovered and accented with black printed text and colored edges.

The Case Bosques Mug designed by designed by Jorge Diego Etienne in collaboration with Savvy Studio takes two materials, ceramic and wood and simply molds them together to create a beautifully perfect mug. The mugs are all hand made in Monterey, Mexico.

The Beams Chair, designed by two Taiwanese designers, Eric Chang and Johnny Hu of Eric and Johnny Design Studio, is inspired by the iconic construction of the Golden Gate Bridge. The chair is made up of three types of wood sheeting, bent plywood, multiplex and aircraft plywood, each serving a specific purpose and when used in conjunction, eliminates weight and increases stability. The chair was shown at the [D3] Design Contest for young designers at IMM Cologne, and was prototyped by by Sebastian Bächer of Tischlerei Bächer.

I’m a little late to the 2013 calendar craze that goes around at the beginning of every December but I though the 2013 Risograph Calendar by JP King of Paper Pusher Printworks was definitely worth showing. The calendar, as the name suggests is printed on a Risograph RP3700 with blue, yellow, and fluorescent pink inks and overly chunky halftones and overprints. The 2013 calendar has been sold out but be sure to check back come next year.

A beautiful brand refresh for The L.C. King Manufacturing Company’s Pointer Brand Clothing by the talented designer Daniel Blackman. Daniel has mashed together vintage imagery, bold typography and bright yellow in a cohesive look that not only screams but is reminiscent of the traditions and history of the company.

The Lucy folding table by designer Alexander Lervik for Johanson Design is the perfect marriage of form and function. A brilliant redesign of the standard old folding table, Lervik uses the strength of bent steel legs and a simple mechanism that uses the table’s own weight to lock the legs in place.

Brandon Text , by designer Hannes von Döhren of the Berlin based HVD Fonts foundry, is an elegant extension of the Brandon Grotesque family that has be optimized for long paragraphs, small sizes and screen reading. The family consists of six weights, in 2 styles, all including alternate numbers, letters, fractions, and an extended character set of additional languages.
