Studio Juju – Wobble & Mushroom Containers

I really love these two container series, Wobble & Mushroom, by the really talented folks at Singapore based Studio Juju. The two designs use beautiful hardwood hand spun on a lathe to create really soft forms, vessels that look as though they would feel both at home in the hand and on the table. The Mushroom series lids can be turned over and used as small plates.

Dear Photograph

Dear Photograph is a really cool new tumbler. Its all images submitted by reader of what they describe as “a picture of a picture from the past in the present.” The concept of the image in an image isn’t new, but I glad to see a blog dedicated to it. Check it out for yourself, there’s not much content right now, but I’m guessing it will be chock full in a few days!

The Burning House Project by Foster Huntington

The Burning House Project is a really awesome project by Foster Huntington in which he asks people “If your house was burning, what would you take with you?” The resulting photographs of carefully arranged items display the inner conflict of deciding what to take. Do you take things that are only practical or do you take things that have sentimental value.

This line is blurred in the photographs as deciphering what is practical and what is loved simply from a photo is near impossible. Each person includes a list of their items, which in some cases gives a glimpse into the decisions made. The project has me thinking what I would take and I’ve come to the conclusion that it would mostly be sentimental items, you know, aside from my laptop.

MegaPhone by en&is

I love the really fun MegaPhone iPhone amplifier by Enrico Bosa and Isabella Lovero of en&is. The ceramic cone sits on a simple wooden base that allows you to direct the amplifier. The simple design uses the age-old method of amplifying sound and brings it into the digital era!

A Paper Record Player Wedding Invitation by Kelli Anderson

This project falls into the realm of utterly amazing. With a set of clients who are also friends and an amazingly talented designer, pure magic has been created. The Paper Record Player wedding invitations that designer Kelli Anderson has completed for her fiends, Mike and Karen, are out of this world. The invitations feature a built in, folded paper record player that, when spun by hand at 45 RPM, plays an original song written and performed by the couple. The flexidisc record can be played on the invitation itself, unscrewed and played in a standard record player or for the less tech-inclined, the song can be streamed from an online version of the invitation. Reading the full story is well worth your time, it can be found on Kelli’s blog here.
