The Pinha Lamp by Shay Alkalay & Yael Mer of Raw Edges

Part of the Inhabitat Bright Ideas competition in conjunction with Phillips, The Pinha Lamp by Shay Alkalay and Yael Mer of Raw Edges is a fun idea on a flexible lamp. The molded cork fixture wraps around a hanging florescent bulb, allowing you to pin almost anything you want to it, creating your shade. I love this idea, it’s a playful approach to lighting through personalization.

Bookmark Lamp by Léonard Kadid

The Bookmark Lamp by the French designer Léonard Kadid brilliantly uses a book as its base, being really clever while also reducing the lamps material usage. The lamp itself is made from two pieces of plied veneer, bent in two places, with high efficiency LEDs embedded in it. This light weight, extremely efficient lamp fits perfectly anywhere, on a bed-side table, a desk, or anywhere else you need task lighting.
