Skateboard Shades by Shwood Eyewear

I’m a big fan of Shwood sunglasses. I don’t own a pair… yet but I’m deeply considering changing that. As an experiment the guys at Shwood teamed up with Keith Hufnagel of HUF to create a pair of their awesome wood sunglasses out of skate deck wood. Skateboard Shade were born and the result is stunning. Unfortunately the shades aren’t available for sale but this guy has his fingers crossed.

Check out the video below of the process.

Reconstructed bags by Directional Motivation

These cool bags are by LA based Directional Motivation and are handmade using reclaimed materials. I love the idea that each of these bags has a story to tell through the left over smudges, stitch marks from a pocket long removed, wear patterns, hole, and even writing from a previous owner. The bags are available thought the Directional Motivation website.

How cute are these lace-in Superhero wings and lightning bolts from SmallFly. The wings & bolts will fit any children’s shoe size (as long as they have laces!) and SmallFly will even do custom orders for larger sizes as well. A pair costs somewhere between $17 and $24 and can be purchased from the SmallFly Etsy Store.

141 Eyewear supports an amazing cause

141 Eyewear looks to be an amazing company supporting an amazing cause. Not only are their glasses top notch, but for every pair purchased they donate one pair to a child in need. It just so happens that I am in the market for a new pair of specks and I really can’t see any reason that they should come from anywhere else.

From 141:

Every day, you make simple, critical choices. But it’s not everyday that your choice can necessarily make a difference. It’s not everyday that your choice will immediately change someone’s life. When you choose 141 Eyewear, we act on your behalf. For every pair of 141 Eyewear purchased, we give a new pair of prescription glasses to a person in need. No portions of proceeds. No percentages. You buy, we give. One Four One.

We are an independent for-profit company with a simple system for addressing this one huge, yet very simple problem: 153 million people need corrective eyewear but cannot afford it. Our 141 business model provides a sustainable solution to give eyewear to those who need it most but may lack the access or funds to attain it. Our contribution is not reliant upon the donations of others…rather your purchase. We know that you can’t always cross an ocean or go before Congress to support what’s right; as a result, we have set up our business so that you are the benefactor, and ultimately, your purchase will change someone’s life.
