2000% Markup Ring by Alexander Hulme

On a recent trip to India, Alexander Hulme couldn’t help but notice the 5 Rupee coin had a really beautiful decorative edge. He decided he could highlight the edge by turning the Rupee into a ring. He drilled out the center, shaped the hole and silver plated it. He sold the rings he had for 200 times the value of the 5 Rupee piece, around £13.50.

Shokki Collection by Laurent Corio

I really love the simplicity and color burst of the Shokki Collection of stoneware vessels by Paris based designer and ceramicist Laurent Colio. The bare ceramic mixed with the brilliantly colored interior is beautifully matched with the simple form and ribbon handles. The clay Laurent used is native to the Guimards quarry in Burgundy, France.

Evelin Kasikov – Printed Matter

Really great work from Evelin Kasikov. I love the mix of newer technologies re-created with traditional methods. Be sure to check out the work she did for Wired Magazine.

Printed Matter is a project about craft within the context of graphic design. My aim is to bring together craft and modern technology, and explore the possibilities for printing processes to be integrated with textile techniques. My main influences come from Swiss typography, Dutch book design and Estonian language – in no particular order. By mixing high and low tech, screen based media with slower crafts, I investigate different ways of seeing and experiencing visual messages.
