Falcon Enamelware Products & Rebrand

The enamelware by Falcon Enamelware is an integral part of American design history, although you may have never known who made it. The iconic blue-rimmed white bowls, dishes, and other kitchen goods are etched into most Americans memories of childhood. The company has been making enamelware since 1920 and is finally releasing new products this year designed in collaboration with Kiwi & Pom.

To go along with the release, Falcon Enamelware hired NYC based design firm Morse Studio to completely rebrand the company and its products. The amazing product photography is done by the talented Sam Stonewell with food styling by Kate Mccullough.

Henry & Co. Branding and Collateral by Arts & Recreation

I just found this great branding & collateral project for Henry Harless, a real estate broker in central Texas by the amazingly talented designers at Arts & Recreation. The old time look of the package gives me a positive feeling about this guy and leads one to believe he is a stand up dude with values and an approachable demeanor all before you even meet him. The colorway, use of old photos, and the bold, clear design make this project a success.

The Nature Conservancy Talamanca Cocao packaging by Fuseproject

Fuseproject has created a beautiful product sphere for The Nature Conservancy Talamanca Cacao that includes branding, packaging, and the development of a custom grinder/stirring stick used to brew the cocoa. The Bribri women of Talamanca, Costa Rica use sustainable farming practices, growing all of their prized cacao in the natural eco-system. Unlike traditional monoculture farming, the cacao plants grow in their native habitats, surrounded by immense biodiversity.

Their main product is 100% cacao (no suger added) that is hand formed in hard pucks. Fuseproject has designed a custom grinder/stirring stick that is used to grind the puck for brewing. The grinder features a micro-blade grinder attached to a wooden handle that has a built-in hook for hanging it on the lip of the mug. The packaging is all created from the burlap bags the beans are dried in.

Mad Brew Productions Identity by Adam Hill

Beautiful identity program by designer Adam Hill for Mad Brew Productions, a live music events company that was looking to expand their offerings into photography, music videos and interiors. Hill: “The aesthetic of a traveling Victorian salesman and the concept of one entity ‘wearing many hats’ was used to neatly package the three brands together.”

Glue Identity by Magpie Studio

Glue is a think-tank with a brand new identity by London base Magpie Studio that specializes in connecting brands, policy makers, and youth. The clean & clear identity for glue needed to appeal to Glue’s younger demographic while setting the think-tank apart from the corporate look of the rest of their sector. The Identity features contrasting patterns that are all unified behind the strong word-mark, visually representing the bringing-together of the disparate groups.

Fast Eddies Barber Shop Identity by Richard Arthur Stewart

I love this beautiful identity package and website, by designer Richard Arthur Stewart, for Fast Eddies Barber Shop in the historic neighborhood of Allston, MA. The identity spews classic Americana, using Franklin Gothic & ATF Bodoni typefaces scanned from vintage type-specimen books and America’s iconic eagle crossed brilliantly with a comb.

The designer stayed away form the red white & blue of classic barber shops, going more for an all black theme printed on white-washed card stock, giving the identity a strong masculine feel while reinforcing the brands perceived age and history.

Pure Typeface for Nokia by Bruno Maag

Nokia has just unveiled their new typeface, Pure, by by Swiss-born, London-based typographer Bruno Maag of the foundry Dalton Maag. Pure was designed to reference the rounded flow of handwriting while still looking modern and at home on the increasingly sharp screens of today’s smartphones. The typeface comes in three weights, each weight specifically designed to keep the rhythm of the letter forms constant and flowing forward.

To celebrate the launch of the Pure typeface, Nokia returned to an analog format, commissioning a woodblock version of the typeface for a limited edition print run by Matt Mckenzie of the London-based Paekakariki Press. This short video, “Pure Reversal” documents that process.

Social Traders Identity by Fabio Ongarato Design

I love this beautiful and simple identity design, by Richmond, Australia based Fabio Ongarato Design, for Social Traders an independent organization, working in collaboration with the Australian government, that facilitates support from corporations for social enterprises and community groups. The ribbon motif was created to visually explain both the journey and the challenges for the organization, while seeming like they are full of forward movement.
