The Burning House Project by Foster Huntington

The Burning House Project is a really awesome project by Foster Huntington in which he asks people “If your house was burning, what would you take with you?” The resulting photographs of carefully arranged items display the inner conflict of deciding what to take. Do you take things that are only practical or do you take things that have sentimental value.

This line is blurred in the photographs as deciphering what is practical and what is loved simply from a photo is near impossible. Each person includes a list of their items, which in some cases gives a glimpse into the decisions made. The project has me thinking what I would take and I’ve come to the conclusion that it would mostly be sentimental items, you know, aside from my laptop.
