The Paul & Paula side table by designer Matthias Ferwager are a beautiful pair. The tables, designed for German furniture company Nils Holger Moormann, are built using sturdy reversible laminated wooden tops and steel legs that are held in place by rope that from the looks of it, allows you to adjust the height of the tops.
The beautiful new Stud dining table by Utrecht, Holland based designer Marc Th. van der Voorn for Dutch design company Odesi is a solid European Oak table. The beautiful craftsmanship shines through on the visually, and physically, sturdy legs that draw inspiration from classic Art Nouveau forms.
Typetoken is an awesome new online magazine by Mike Sullivan that showcases, discusses and reviews the world of typography, iconography and visual language. The site was built by Mike Sullivan of Mister in collaboration with Mark Millic of Modularlab and developed for the web by David Cole of Mayfield Digital.
I love the simple beauty of the MUN Collection by SlowWood. The collection of tables & desks are hand made by artisan craftsmen from the Dutch town of Fryslân. Each piece is cut from solid woods and is treated with 100% natural finishes and vibrant array of natural mineral paints.
The brilliant Clothespin Lightbulb pendant lamp by designer Steffi Min redefines how we interact with out lamps. The day of screwing in a bulb are gone, using the simple mechanism of the clothespin, the light bulb is clamped into place.
I’m really into swashy script typefaces right now and Fidelia Script by Melle Diete is one of the more beautiful ones I’ve come across lately. The typeface, designed by Berlin based typographer Melle Diete, combines the hand-drawn aspects of classic calligraphy with the disconnected modern display fonts of today.

San Francisco based design studio Mike & Maaike are at it again, this time with Divis Bench, a continuation of the Divis Table which the duo designed for the American design company, Council. The bench, like it’s parent table, comes in ash or poplar as well as a wide selection of colors.

The amazingly beautiful Flight Desk by self proclaimed “maker and designer” Rupert McKelvie. The desk top is made from solid ash, the legs from Oak, and the brightly colored band is silicon, which both holds the top in place and can be used as a desktop organizer.
I know its a little late for a Christmas themed post but I have to post this one now. The The Hidden Message of Jingle Bells poster by Paragon is absolutely the funniest and most clever piece of self promotion I’ve seen this year. The letter pressed posted includes the major versus of the song with accompanying infographics!
Soji is a collection of containers & plates by the Japanese design studio Mute, that perfectly blends the traditional methods of Yamanaka-Shikki (Japanese lacquer ware & woodcarving dating back to the late 1500s) with modern design cues.
Animal Alphabet from A-Z is another awesome project from the talented trio over at I Love Dust. Each letter is represented by an totally cute illustration of an animal who’s name starts with that letter. Monkey for M, Flamingo for F, you get the idea.
The 2010 Feltron Annual Report by Nicholas Feltron is out and, as usual, it doesn’t disappoint. This years report follows his father’s life, everything from the places he had traveled to the things he ate and the music he listened to. He has a knack for weeding through all the data and presenting it in a way that is not only interesting but is visually engaging and tremendously beautiful.
I love the new Kith Cafe in Singapore by the designers at Hjgher. The clients were inspired by a line from the Japanese movie, Be With You, “would you care to have coffee with me sometime?” They wanted a place that had the power to turn strangers into friends or “kith into kin.” They decided that they would remove all the fancy lampshades, mass produced furniture, and unnecessary printed materials to delivery an unassuming space that would support their philosophy & ethos.
Linear Empire is a beautiful series of paintings by Mount Vernon, WA based artist Mary Iverson. The paintings depict landscapes with vibrant color blocks & geometric lines superimposed, contrasting the random nature of the vistas with hard geometry.
The stunning Monte Rosa Hütte by the Swiss architecture practice Bearth & Deplazes sits 2,883 meter above sea level, nestled high up in the Monte Rosa mountain in the Swiss Alps. This amazing lodge and restaurant is only accessibly by helicopter or a 3 hour hike from the base of the mountain.

Pete is a 2010 Artists Wanted: Exposure prize winner that came with a show in New York. Through this show, Pete has become an art sensation with international acclaim including a feature article in Time Magazine.
The 2 Bar home in Menlo Park, California by Feldman Architecture is a beautiful cost-conscious design that implements green materials & technologies for a couple with two young children. The 2 bar name comes from the house being two long stacked bar shaped volumes, a configuration that allows both spaces to maximize their available natural light.
I love the brilliant idea behind the Favorite Thing pendant lamp by Stockholm based Hommin. Its the perfect place to display your favorite small objects! The clean and simple design features a clear “shade” that acts as a light display case for your small cherished nick-knacks.

Happy stools from A2 designers are colorful little stools that would be great as a impromptu seat or even as a bright little side table. A2 launched it’s first furniture line at the Stockholm Furniture Fair in February 2009.
The modular storage solutions were designed by George Nelson, Herman Miller’s Director of Design from 1945-1972. A select group of items from the Series are being reintroduced plus a metal leg option for the classic Platform Bench.
The Duo Shelf from Ana Linares is a really fun play on the traditional wall shelf. The shelf hold books and magazines in a way that gives them the feeling of floating along the wall.
The Color Berlin series by Matthias Heidrich is a really cool set of stunningly beautiful and graphic images from around Berlin, Germany. I just love the blown out and saturated colors and his affinity for finding beautiful images in what seem to be everyday places.
CNNCT chair by Jacob Nitz allows for a truly personalized solution to fit a variety environments both interior and exterior. This is achieved by allowing the user to combine different types of wood legs with a multitude of colored seats allowing for endless possibilities.
Covert is a furniture series by Canadian based designer Christian Woo. The line is hand built from sustainably harvested hardwoods, finished with hand rubbed oil, and highlighted with beautiful thin bands of bright colors.
Designer Kurt Dexel of Dexel Crafted released his Angular Collection line at ICFF this year. The line consists of many different pieces but shown at ICFF this year were the Angled Console Table, the Longboard Console, the Wedge Side Tables, and the Boomerang Love seat (not shown below). All of the pieces are hand build out of hardwoods ranging from quarter sawn Oak to Black Walnut and are finished with hand rubbed oil finishes.
There is an awesome movement on 2 wheels going on in Oakland California right now, Scraper Bikes, lead by CHAMP the king of the Original Scraper Bike Team. It seems like this movement is being driven by a passion to keep kids on the straight and narrow and o give them something to focus their creativity on. CHAMP seems to care not only about being fly, but inspiring others to get in touch with their creativity as a positive outlet for dealing with life in Oakland.
Brooklyn, New York based UM Project released some really great new pieces of furniture at this years ICFF show. Milking Stools, Ray Chair, SMPL table, and U.M.O table/seat are all beautiful simple and clean designs that have UM Project’s signature pops of bright color. The images are by photographer Franois Hambard.
Loadbearing, a Swiss/US company specializing in home an casual office furniture, released MShelving at ICFF this year. MShelving is a endlessly customizable, modular storage system made of of a steel frame, metal and wood sliding doors, and a few drawer options.
Timber is a project form designer Julian Kyhl. The Table is FSC certified, uses no glues or binders, and no hardware at all. Everything slip together and is held in place by gravity and friction.
